Justworks Bets on Emotion Over Features in its Biggest Brand Campaign Yet

As payroll and HR technology brands continue to compete on product features, Justworks is taking a different approach.
The company has launched its largest integrated marketing campaign to date, shifting its messaging away from software capabilities and toward the emotional reality of building a business. The campaign, titled You Don’t Have to Worry When It Justworks, uses surreal creative concepts, including founders cloning themselves and puppeteering employees, to highlight the mental burden entrepreneurs face while managing payroll, compliance, hiring, and other back office responsibilities.
Justworks declined to disclose how much it spent on the campaign.
The effort comes at a time when starting a company has become easier through technology and AI, while operating a growing business has become increasingly complex. For Justworks, the challenge was less about explaining what its platform does and more about creating mental availability among founders who are often overwhelmed by day to day operations.
“Starting a small business has never been easier, but running one is even more complicated in 2026,” said Catherine Crevels, chief marketing officer at Justworks. “Small businesses deserve a partner they trust to do things the right way, so they don’t have to do it themselves.”
The campaign spans digital video, influencer partnerships, newsletters, social media, streaming, audio, and out of home advertising. It was developed alongside agency partners Noble People and Quality Meats, both of which are also Justworks customers.
For B2B marketers, the campaign reflects a broader shift toward emotionally driven storytelling. While software marketing has historically leaned heavily on performance advertising and feature based messaging, brands are increasingly investing in upper funnel campaigns designed to build awareness, trust, and long term affinity before a purchase decision is made.
Crevels said the company wants founders to view Justworks as more than a software provider and instead as a business partner that can remove operational burdens as companies scale.
“We believe business is personal, and that growth stage companies need a partner they can trust,” Crevels said. “We felt it was imperative to connect on an emotional level first and foremost, celebrating founders and helping them feel seen.”
The strategy is also intended to support the full customer journey. While Justworks continues to invest in lower funnel marketing efforts, the company sees brand building as a key driver of future demand generation, particularly as buying behavior becomes less linear and founders increasingly discover brands through a variety of channels, including AI platforms and large language models.
Success will be measured through a mix of attribution models, consideration metrics, conversion data, and brand sentiment studies, according to the company.
The campaign is designed as more than a one time effort. Justworks sees the messaging as an extension of its broader mission to help small businesses grow with confidence, a positioning the company plans to carry forward as media habits, startup communities, and founder expectations continue to evolve.
“We develop everything in service of our mission: to help small businesses grow with confidence,” Crevels said. “In this campaign, Justworks isn’t just our brand name, it’s our brand promise. You don’t have to worry when it Justworks.”
The campaign arrives as emotional storytelling gains traction across B2B marketing. According to LinkedIn’s B2B Institute, emotional connections influence business purchasing decisions more than many marketers assume, while research from Google and Bain has found that buyers increasingly favor brands that establish trust and familiarity before entering active buying cycles.
At the same time, small businesses remain a critical market, with the U.S. Small Business Administration estimating there are more than 34 million small businesses in the United States, creating a significant opportunity for brands that can build long term relationships with founders before they are ready to buy.
